ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Kelly Vardakas, and I am a FertilityCare Practitioner of the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System since 2013 and recenlty completed my Hormone Coaching Certification from the FIAT Institute in 2025.

I have experienced infertility, stage III endometriosis, threatened miscarriage and post partum depression, and now my specialty is helping women overcome these obstacles like I have by sharing the knowledge and tools I have used and continue to learn about.

As a Practitioner, I am honored to work with women and couples on their journey toward fertility awareness at every stage, from a young woman's first period or before, through menopause, and everything in between.

I look forward to offering support and encouragement to my clients through attentive listening, dialogue and practical suggestions for optimal outcomes of health, fertility and overall wellbeing. I can't wait to hear your story and to help you know on a soul level that you are worthy of good care, and wellness is possible!

My symptoms started at 11 years old. Surgery happened when I was 28. I wish I did not wait so long for surgery! My doctor suspected endometriosis and suggested surgery when I was 23, but I was afraid.

Then, in 2012, I had an ovarian cyst that put me in the emergency room, and needed to be removed surgically. It was because of that I had no choice but to go for surgery, and so my long overdue diagnosis was confirmed. Stage III. Validation. Answers. Plans.

The relief was really unbelievable. I did have two or three really bad cycles following surgery from all of the inflammation and points of excision. But once I healed, I had absolutely no pain at all. And best of all I was able to conceive!

God opened so many doors to me through NaProTechnology, more on why it is set apart and the gold standard of surgery for endo, coming soon!

It was and is because of my experience that I became a Creighton Model FertilityCare Practitioner...so I can link arms with other women who are suffering, and walk with them toward healing!

The last slide gets me. My diagnosis took over 14 years. How is this ok? Women deserve better than bandaids (IUDs, BC,) and gaslighting (it's normal, there's nothing wrong with you), and IVF (it is NOT your only option).

My pain was not heard. My symptoms were ignored. For more than a DECADE..... (As an FCP, I hear this on repeat by almost every client, especially those in their late 30s and early 40s. I'm a lucky one, I was 28. Still too long.)

Until...I found Creighton and NaPro. Which is why I do what I do.

On Feb 14th, I celebrated my 13 year anniversary of NaPro Surgery, which found Stage III endo, lesions all over my pelvic organs and and endometriomas on both ovaries.

About 2 years ago, I started experiencing that familiar pain again, and when you've had it you don't forget it. I am one of the 20% who have what I'm pretty sure is recurrence after surgery. I think I may know why. More on that to come.

October is Pregnancy and Infant loss awareness month, and I couldn't let the month go by without acknowledging this tragedy and heartache for so many men and women.

Many of my clients are post miscarriage, and the loss is often regarded as "normal" and couples are told to "just try again." The current statistics show that about 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in miscarriage, equaling about 1 million losses in the United States alone each year.

What are some biomarkers on a Creighton chart that may indicate an underlying fertility issue/ increased risk for miscarriage?

*Pre-mentrual spotting (L, VL or B spotting 3 or more days before the period starts)
*Tail end brown bleeding (2 or more days of brown spotting after the period)
*Very painful periods
*Limited cervical mucus
*PMS symptoms that begin more than 3 days before the period starts
*A short luteal phase

My goal to help women chart their cycles so that they can look for these and other biomarkers pre-pregnancy (and post-miscarriage) that may indicate an underlying issue. If there has been a history of miscarriage, we not only make space for grief and healing, but work closely with a mission aligned medical practitioner who can help ensure that the risk for a recurrent miscarriage is addressed.

I remember when these girls were just a dream, a hope and a wish. I remember a deep desire for motherhood that ran through my veins.

After 4 years of marriage, it was apparent that my intuition was always right....something in my body was not right. I had been blown off, ignored and laughed at (literally) by doctors. The only thing I had ever been offered was the Pill, and even before having done my research on its awful effects on the mind body and soul of women, I knew that it was not an answer.

The answer was Stage III endometriosis and low progesterone in combination with nutrient deficiencies from celiac disease. My journey and discoveries gave me the desire to help women on their fertility journey.

For 12 years, I have worked with countless women nationally and internationally who have come to me with the same experience. Longing for a child, years of infertility, no answers and IVF as the only option.
Many are uncomfortable with IVF because of what it can do to a woman's body but also the destruction of embryo babies. Women and their husbands deserve better than this.

As a Creighton Model FertilityCare Practitioner I teach women to:

Love waking up to the sunshine but love sleeping in even more!

In light of Breast Cancer Awareness month, reminder- do a monthly breast exam! Day seven of your cycle is an ideal time not only for consistency but it is the best time in the cycle because breast tissue can become more cystic due to the rise of estrogen the closer we get toward ovulation.

Any unusual observations or changes should be a quick phone call to your provider who can rule out any concerns.

Here's the gown I wore today for my #mamogram. I went because I turned 40, and because of my history, and because of the many women I know who have had or have breast cancer.

I wrestled with doing this or thermography. More on that another time.

My experience was far from dignified women's health care. I was treated like a body without a soul, a number without a story. Cold rooms and cold exchanges. The radiologist will email you in 3 days. I think of all the women who've passed through here with the same experience and don't know that there is another, better way.

It saddened me but it doesn't surprise me with the undercurrent culture that takes no joy, or pride, or humility in the service of others. In the worth and wellness, in the wonder or wholeness of women.

It also lights a fire in me. It fuels my passion for listening to women, to helping them understand the language of their body, to finding answers, to make lifestyle changes, to receive healing and compassionate care.

More and more my purpose becomes clear.

This morning I wanted to creat a flyer about the post partum support I offer women as a FertilityCare ™ Practitioner for Mom Care Fair I'll be at tomorrow hosted by @bellabambinos3d

I went to @unsplash to find a quick image of a mom post partum, and NOT ONE of them was blissful, glorious or glowing...and all I typed in was POSTPARTUM. I didn't include depression in my search at all...and low and behold...
these are the images that came up.

And it brought back a wave of PTSD for me, because for a moment I flashed back to what my experience was after my first baby....which can be summed up in these photos. A picture says a 1000 words, right?

Depair, hopeless, depressed, anxious, hallucinating, adrenals crashing, not sleeping, crying all the time, wishing I had my old life back, feeling nothing for my baby, guilt, loneliness, regret, not eating, agonizing over breastfeeding, in pain, shame, darkness, heartache, fear, wanting to run away with no where to go.

In my misery I was grasping at straws for resources, connection, support, and I could not find it. Thankfully since then social media has made finding help so much easier, but

I want every woman to know that I AM HERE for YOU! I survived. And you can too! I have a post partum coaching package that is made to support, listen, encourage and connect women to recources that can help them through what can be the most challenging time on their body, soul and marriage! DONT WAIT UNTIL BABY IS BORN to set yourself up for success.

Infertility or recurrent miscarriage are not a diagnosis, but a symptom of an underlying condition. We hurt the dignity of women and couples by telling them IVF is their only option! It is not! There are not only serious moral and ethical problems with this approach to fertility & pregnancy, but women and men's bodies and fertility are not honored, but rather manipulated and pumped full of synthetic hormones.

You can feel all the feelings and not feel guilty.
These emotions and sentiments are a natural way of dealing with pain. However, we have the choice to stay in that place, or to change our mindset.

It was my dad who taught me that in the face of adversity or trial, we can look around and thank God for even the littlest blessings, like, even the green grass. Like, the air that will fill our lungs in the next breath.

We can thank God for the crosses of life that help us to lean on Him, to wrestle with Him, to depend on Him, to stay close to Him.

The path of life is never easy but the truth is that God wants to heal you. He wants to restore you and make you whole. If you are in the waiting, have hope and hold fast, good things are coming. I speak the healing name of Jesus over you! May the Fountain of Life fill you up 💕 Trust Him

It's always assumed that the ETA of a baby is based on the first day of the last menstrual period. But not with NaPro! If a woman ovulates early or later in the cycle than Day 14, the ETA will be different!

Using the Creighton Chart, knowing the ETC (Estimated Time of Conception) results in a more accurate due date, and prevents unnecessary medical interventions like induction.

With my trained eyes I can see when intimacy is suffering in the midst of infertility.

It's always a painful conversation, but an important one that leads to healing and communication and restoration.

I strongly suggest @5lovelanguages to understand the needs of the spouses and lay a foundation for communication.

Sometimes abstaining from intercourse for one cycle allows for a reconnection.

Sometimes making a commitment to frequent, enjoyable acts of intercourse outside of the window of fertility helps too.

Sometimes revisiting the wedding vows or reminiscing about the beginning of a relationship can rekindle what once was and remind a couple of why they must make each other a priority even in the midst of the infertility journey.

Basics first, once an egg is released it only lives between 12 and 24 hours. However, cervical mucus increases this window of fertility and it's important for several reasons. First, transit...it helps sperm travel toward the egg. It also has channels designed to filter out abnormal sperm cells. Mucus neutralizes vaginal pH so sperm can servive. It also has enzymes which can keep sperm alive for 3 to 5 days...as they wait for the egg to be released! In general a woman can be fertile for 1-8 days each cycle. And each woman and each cycle is different. When avoiding pregnancy, we avoid all days that cervical mucus is present. If a woman has continuous mucus, it is managed so that the true mucus cycle can stand out. When trying to achieve pregnancy we make sure that the mucus cycle is adequate and regular.

One of the important biomarkers we look for in the Creighton Model is the presence and quality of cervical mucus in each cycle. We can even give it a score! Limited mucus can point to an underlying problem and can also reduce chances of conceiving. Blood labs and ultrasounds can help identify why, if there is limited mucus.

I love when a woman can see her cervical mucus increase once the problem is found and fixed!

Infertility seems like a faraway journey, but I never forget where I came from. I remember seeing other women pregnant, and wondering if I would share their destiny of being a mother. I remember praying and begging God to give me the gift of a child.

It took a long time, but because of the resources that I had in the Creighton Model and Naprotechnology, I have two beautiful girls that I was able to conceive naturally with my husband.

My endometriosis was healed and my hormones corrected.

I love beauty, but I love God more.

I went to a beautiful #church for Mass tonight.
A place of encounter. We all need that. I felt a nearness to God that I have not in a while, perhaps because the mystery of Him was so present in the asthetics. At the end of the day though there is a deeper spiritual reality that we all are invited into.

The Lord desires a relationship with us, living breathing human beings, who have life because He breathed His very breath in to our lungs.

And no matter how ornate a church can be, to God we are more precious than all the gold, silver and jewels the whole world could contain.

But, at that Church, we are invited to His table, so that once again we can consume all of Him into our humble bodies, and draw near to Him on earth as it is in Heaven.

Nourished.

Food for the long journey of this life, the mountains the valleys and everything in between. The relationships, the crosses, the struggles, fertility included.

Whether it be the physical pain from endometriosis, the moodswings from PMS, the weight gain from PCOS, the sorrow and grief of miscarriage, the heartache of infertility, the loss of intimacy in marriage, God sees you. He does not ask you to walk alone.

His desire is for your healing and restoration.
Sometimes it's the fires or the desserts, raging storms and high water, but He quenches, He calms, and He parts the seas. He's never far.

The answer is that infertility is a SYMPTOM of an underlying problem. It points to a need to find an imbalance, disorder or disease in the woman, the man, or both. We CAN identify a problem, because our bodies speak a language that can be interpreted and understood.

Common underlying causes of infertility include inadequate hormone levels, sub optimal ovarian function, low sperm count, endometriosis, PCOS, thyroid problems, blocked fallopian tubes, fibroids, limited cervical mucus, and environmental toxicity.

For many years I have worked with women and couples who have been told there is no explanation for infertility and IVF is there only option. This is just NOT TRUE and women deserve SO.MUCH.BETTER!

The Creighton model is healing, helpful, and respectful of a woman and man, their dignity and their marriage. It provides answers and allows trained medical professionals to diagnose and treat cooperatively, never manipulating or bypassing but working with the reproductive system.
